Questions or requests: support@gaiahex.com or the privacy request page.

1. About this policy
Feather helps you work toward stopping smoking with a diary, progress tools, reading, games and SOS exercises. This policy explains how your information is used and what you can control. Please also read our Terms.
There is no Feather account, cloud diary or AI coach at launch. Subscriptions use your Apple or Google account. Some service providers can receive identifiers and activity information even though you have no Feather account.
2. Your diary and other local information
What Feather saves depends on what you use and choose to enter:
- Your smoking history, cigarette amounts and costs, quit dates and attempts, cravings and slips, triggers, moods, notes, place labels, replacement-product entries, and answers about health risks or smoking habits.
- Optional profile information: your name, birthday, gender and pregnancy-related answers.
- Goals, estimated savings, personal reasons and plans, your story, Journey steps, saved reading, feedback choices and game progress.
- Reminder schedules, appearance and privacy preferences, and some unfinished onboarding or check-in answers.
These records may contain sensitive health information. Feather keeps them on your device; it does not send your diary to a server we operate. If you agree to optional measurement, events can show that you used a craving or SOS tool without including the entry itself. Section 5 explains this choice.
Feather does not add encryption to your saved app data. Your device provides its own app sandbox and security protections. The web version uses browser storage. Someone who can access your unlocked device or backups may be able to read your information.
Device backups and transfers may copy app data to Apple, Google or another backup destination. Android backups are set to include the app database, app-owned photos and earlier recordings. The database includes your saved consent choices, campaign information and random analytics identifier. Separate storage used by native service-provider software is excluded from that Android backup list. Backup protection and restoration depend on your platform and settings. Deleting the app may leave backup copies behind, and a later restore may bring data back.
3. Photos, earlier recordings, places and maps
You can choose a photo or take one using the device's permission controls or selected-photo picker. Feather saves a copy in its own files and does not upload it automatically. Deleting this copy leaves the original in your photo library.
Recording and audio playback are unavailable at launch. Personal reasons can still contain text and photos. Recordings saved in an earlier version may remain on your device; this release neither plays them nor removes them automatically. Feather does not upload those recordings.
To remove an earlier recording, remove the attachment in its reason's editor and save. Discarding the edit keeps the saved attachment. Deleting the reason also starts removal of its recording, once no other saved reason or open reason draft uses it. Removal may be incomplete; see section 9 for the limits of Delete data.
With location permission, Feather can save your foreground location with a craving. If you have already given permission, a new craving can receive a location automatically. Feather does not track your location continuously in the background. Finding a place name from coordinates uses your device's geocoding service, which may send those coordinates to its provider.
On iOS, maps can use Apple Maps; on Android builds with a map key, they can use Google Maps. Those providers may receive connection information and the area you view. Maps show saved places rather than following your live location. Web and Android versions without a map key show an offline map.
You can turn off camera or location access in device settings. This does not delete earlier entries. Microphone permission remains in the app's native configuration for the earlier recording feature, but launch controls do not request it. You can withdraw any earlier microphone permission in device settings; doing so does not remove saved recordings.
4. Reminders on your device
If you allow notifications and enable the relevant reminders, Feather schedules alerts on your device. These include support times, Journey steps, progress milestones, achievements, goals, later check-ins and support after a slip. Onboarding recovery and trial-end reminders are also scheduled when their conditions apply. Feather does not register for remote push notifications or send your schedules to an app notification server.
Alerts on your lock screen may show smoking-related progress or a support label you entered. Choose what appears through Feather's reminder controls and your device's notification settings.
Your operating system may delay, suppress or limit alerts. A trial reminder is a convenience: check your store subscription settings for the cancellation deadline.
5. Optional measurement and crash reporting
Optional measurement is off until you save your agreement. Leaving a consent screen without agreeing does not turn it on. Feather does not save a history of earlier activity to send after you agree.
The Privacy, App Tracking and statistics consent screens save one choice for analytics and advertising attribution together. There are no separate switches for these purposes. Agreeing allows the services below to run where available. Read the Android advertising section before deciding. You can change your choice later in the privacy controls. Some services may be unavailable in test sessions, on certain platforms or when they have not been configured.
Usage and crash information
- PostHog helps us understand app use. It receives fixed screen names, time spent navigating, onboarding steps, content and game identifiers, use of craving and SOS tools, and selected paywall, trial and purchase events. These events can include the offered product, plan, price and currency. A random identifier saved on your device links activity over time, along with session information, timestamps and the service software's version. This information is pseudonymous: it can connect activity to the same identifier, even without your name.
- Google Play install referrer and PostHog help measure campaigns on Android after both saved consents. The app reads install-referrer information and keeps restricted campaign codes for source, medium, campaign and content, plus available click and install timestamps. The information sent to PostHog excludes the raw referrer, search terms, click identifiers and advertising identifiers.
- Sentry helps find crashes after analytics consent, when configured. JavaScript reports include the exception type, a message with sensitive content removed, stack frames showing where the error occurred, and app-release and reporting-software details. Feather removes user, request and free-text context from these reports. Native fatal-crash reports can include stack and thread information, device and operating-system details, and app diagnostics supplied by Sentry's software.
Feather does not attach diary notes, names, smoking quantities, craving strength, mood, quiz answers, precise coordinates, photos or recordings to these events. Its PostHog settings disable automatic click collection, session replay, added device properties and IP-based geographic enrichment. Sentry settings disable screenshots, replay, profiling and automatic session reporting. Providers receive your IP address when you connect to them.
Android advertising measurement through Meta
On configured Android releases, Meta receives advertising measurements after you save agreement to both purposes. These cover app activation and opening, completed onboarding, trial starts, purchases and subscriptions. Feather's purchase parameters contain only the available offered price and currency. They do not confirm that you were charged or that a subscription renewed. Feather does not send Meta your diary or a screen-by-screen activity history.
Meta's software can add its own app or device identifier, available Android advertising and Facebook attribution identifiers, install-referrer information, and technical details such as app version, device model, language and region, and network IP address. Meta's install-referrer processing is separate from the restricted campaign information sent to PostHog.
These measurements support advertising across companies. Meta is therefore not described here as a provider acting only on our behalf, and advertising-related sharing can occur. Meta measurement is not enabled on iOS or web. Feather has no iOS advertising-ID or App Tracking Transparency permission flow.
Changing your mind
You can withdraw agreement in the privacy controls. Feather then stops creating optional events, clears its unsent PostHog events and local analytics identifier, and clears local campaign values. It also disables Meta advertising-ID collection and closes Sentry crash reporting. Agreeing again creates a new analytics identifier.
Withdrawal is not a guarantee that information already sent or queued by a provider has been erased. Some previously consented events or crash reports may remain in provider software; Meta's cached events may be sent if you agree again. Requests already underway cannot always be recalled. Some provider configuration requests may continue while withdrawal takes effect.
To ask about records held by a provider, use the privacy request page. What can be found and removed depends on the available records and identifiers.
6. Subscriptions and payments
Apple or Google handles payment and keeps your payment credentials. Feather does not receive your card number.
Where enabled, Superwall displays offers and connects purchases and restores. It can process subscription status, purchase history, pseudonymous app or vendor identifiers, device and app details, paywall activity and geography derived from your IP address. Feather also saves your access status locally.
Requests needed to display offers and check paid access are separate from optional measurement. Superwall's optional event tracking stays off until analytics consent and follows later changes to your choice. Feather also disables Superwall's external-data collection and forwarding of identifiers to Google Play through its available settings. Billing can still involve network requests and retained purchase records. Information Feather supplies for showing an offer excludes diary text and return-link query values.
7. Sharing and contacting support
Sharing an achievement or certificate creates an image for your device's share sheet. You choose where to send it. Check the image first: it may show your name or progress. A cached copy can remain so the receiving app can read it. Recipients control their copies. You control web downloads and any later sharing.
A support link opens a draft addressed to support@gaiahex.com in your mail app; it does not send it automatically. If the draft cannot open, Feather shows an error. You can also visit the contact page. A support link may include an app identifier if one is supplied.
Your email provider and the provider handling our support correspondence receive what you send, including your address, message and attachments. Include only the information you want in that correspondence; avoid unnecessary diary details.
8. Purposes, legal grounds and recipients
Feather uses local information to provide the features you request. Stores and billing providers process information to deliver paid access and handle purchases. Optional analytics helps us understand usage and investigate errors; optional Android attribution measures campaigns. Support correspondence lets us answer you. Information may also be processed to meet legal duties or deal with legal claims where the law requires it.
Optional measurement relies on your saved choice in section 5, which you can withdraw. Giving photo or location permission allows access for that feature; it does not authorise advertising. Paid access requires store and billing processing even with optional measurement off. Agreeing to analytics is not a separate agreement to upload health records. Local diary information remains separate from provider records.
Recipients include the measurement and billing providers named above, Apple or Google platform services, providers handling messages you send us, and people or apps you choose when sharing. Information may be disclosed where required by law. Meta measurement involves another company's advertising services; it is not limited to processing on our behalf.
Providers may process information outside your country. Their linked privacy notices explain international operations and protections. Contact us about a particular recipient or transfer. Countries, contractual roles and retention periods vary by provider.
9. Retention and deleting local data
Information stays in Feather's local storage until removed. Restarting a quit attempt can keep a snapshot of earlier entries. Removing an entry from today's diary may therefore leave it in earlier history.
Delete data resets saved app state and attempts to remove referenced app-owned photos and earlier recordings. It reports an error if file removal fails. It is not a secure wipe of every file or backup.
Deleting local data does not cancel your subscription, delete a store account, erase an original library photo, recall shared images or emails, or ask a provider to delete records. Unreferenced files, shared-image caches, native service-provider preferences and caches, and operating-system backups may remain. Reinstalling or restoring a backup may bring information back. There is no Feather account or server diary to delete.
PostHog events and identities, Sentry reports, Superwall billing records and Meta measurements can remain after deletion or consent withdrawal. Retention and removal depend on each service's configuration and rules; Feather does not automatically erase all provider records after a set period. Apple and Google retain transactions under their rules and legal record-keeping duties. Support messages are retained separately from app data. Backup services control when backups expire. We do not promise a fixed retention period or immediate backup removal.
For access to or erasure of off-device records, use the privacy request page. Tell us which service or interaction your request concerns. Do not send payment credentials or your full diary. We may ask for information to verify the request or locate records. Without a Feather account, and with random analytics identifiers, some provider records may be impossible to connect to your request. We will explain relevant technical or legal limits. Deleting local data alone does not fulfil a request about provider records.
10. Rights and policy updates
You can edit or remove local entries in Feather, withdraw optional measurement in its privacy controls and change device permissions in system settings. For information held elsewhere, use the privacy request page.
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, erase or move your information, restrict or object to processing, or withdraw consent. Advertising choices and complaint or appeal rights also depend on your location and the processing involved. Requests may require identity checks and available identifiers, and lawful exceptions may apply. You can contact your local privacy regulator. This policy does not limit rights provided by law.
We will date policy changes here and provide any notice or renewed choice required for a material change.
